POWERGRID Unlocks 3,500 MW of Solar Power in Andhra Pradesh!

POWERGRID has successfully commissioned its flagship transmission scheme for the Solar Energy Zones in Andhra Pradesh’s Ananthapur and Kurnool districts. Fully operational as of June 24, 2026, the critical infrastructure project is designed to evacuate a massive 3,500 MW of renewable capacity (2,500 MW from Ananthapur and 1,000 MW from Kurnool).

Following the official Commercial Operation Notification (DOCO) received on June 26, 2026, the corridor is now actively channeling stable, green power from these solar hubs to high-demand centers across the national grid. While initially executed by a dedicated subsidiary, the project was seamlessly absorbed into POWERGRID Khawda II-C Transmission on March 1, 2026, as part of a Ministry of Corporate Affairs-approved corporate restructuring. This milestone marks a significant leap forward in infrastructure readiness for India’s large-scale clean energy transition.
